It is such a relief after 2 months of travel and weddings and packed weekends to have one relatively normal one to look forward to. This weekend we are attending a Care of Mother & Child class through our birth center, going to pick out and order a chair for the baby's room, going to the bank to (finally!) change my name on my accounts and consolidate our bank accounts and going to a play at Intersection - one of my art space clients. Oh, and probably going to pick out tile for the kitchen (my home reno moratorium didn't last very long).
A glimpse into the monotony these days: I have been sick - cold or flu, I guess. Not ridiculously sick, but when you are 31+ weeks pregnant and already not sleeping or breathing easy, adding a stuffy nose and achiness and sore throat and nausea and all of that can really take a lot out of you. I am hanging on and trying to take it easier than normal so this can pass quickly. Ray has been very busy at work for the last month or so - lots of deadlines and lots of working late. On a more fun note, he is also getting a new rear bumper for Fiona (the FJ), which he has been looking forward to for quite awhile (and saving his fun money for!) :) Ikaika has been a pain in the butt throwing up and peeing and pooing all over. I don't know if he is some kind of sick or in a wretched state because one of the neighborhood bitches is in heat... either way, we are both very very very sick of cleaning up after him. (And some first time parents dread diaper changes... I think we won't be fazed!) Mela is the same ever-hungry chunky monkey cuddlebug as always.
Our families have been having some big changes lately, too.

July winding down & halfway to Halo
I feel like nothing significant has happened to write about lately... odd considering that it has been a fairly eventful month. Here are some of the highlights of our current day-to-day:
* We found out we are having a little boy
* I turned 30 (*GASP*)
* Ikaika snorted another foxtail and had to have his annual emergency surgery
* Ray enjoyed his last 4-wheeling weekend pre-baby
* My mamma went to Brazil on a mission trip
* Ray's BFF Chris & his fiancee Maria had a bridal shower
* My 2 BFFs Traci & Laura are each going to have a baby next month
* We interviewed and hired my "maternity replacement" at my biggest client
* We started our childbirth classes
* I decided to switch doctors again...
* Our baby is now a cantaloupe
* I have been frantically trying to take continuing education classes because I need 120 hours to renew my CPA license in September
* Ray has developed pregnancy symptoms which mostly include cravings (sauerkraut?! vitamin water? who craves vitamin water?)
* Our neighbor backed into our new little tree and killed it (which was replaced after she backed into it the first time!)
* I finally went to the DMV and changed my license to my new last name & address
* We are now 20 weeks pregnant and halfway to the finish line (I fervently hope)
We have another ultrasound tomorrow, so with luck I will have some more Halo-Halo glamour shots to share with you soon!
xoxo

Sigh of Relief
The worst of my latest deadline is over, so I am breathing a sigh of relief. Ray and I are going away for the weekend and I think it is a good thing because I need to get away and forget about work for a bit. I am sure Ray is happy to get away, too, since he has had to do everything around the house.
We are going on this annual 4-wheeling/camping trip called Surf & Turf. I didn't go last year, but I guess we go down to Pismo Beach (south of SF, on the coast) and ride around & camp. 4-wheeling is not a passion of mine, but Ray loves it so much... I do like to do the camping part and Ray also promised we could stop at this place in San Luis Obispo that has the best fries ever. I am easy to please. Fries, a book or two, no email or phone, sounds perfect. Maybe I will even get my People mag today so I can take it with! :)
You guys really are getting the mundane, aren't you?
