Summer Recap

Autumn is here.

This is our first back-to-school fall with school BBQs and fundraising catalogs and family activity nights.  Roscoe is thriving in preschool.  He is going 5 mornings a week and has learned many new songs and games and his vocabulary has expanded (unfortunately to include phrases like "poopie-diaper-baby" which I am told is a "mean word".)  He loves his teachers and friends at schools and I've been told by several of the little girls' mothers that their daughters can't stop talking about Roscoe.  He is mainly unaware of this phenomenon and happily moves from station to station playing with anyone who wants to play the same games as him.  His favorite is consistently the "bikes", which include all sorts of tricycle/wagon/scooter combinations that you only find in a 60 year preschool.  It is humbling and fascinating to watch him grow and develop and learn and become more of himself.

Luka is having a speaking spurt right now and stringing to together words that charm and entertain us.  The other day when we took her on a wagon ride around the block she said, "wagon!  ride!  fun!  wheeee!"  She is still more of an observer, especially in new situations, until she gets comfortable, but she is getting more bold about venturing off without us.  She goes on her own adventures to the park and to tumbling class with the nanny while Roscoe is at school and she is learning that it is ok to say goodbye because we always come back together after our fun.  She still LOVES to brush her teeth and to read books.  She adores her brother.  My favorite thing is watching them play and laugh together.  When she sees Roscoe after he has been at school for a few hours she shouts his name (DARO!) and they run to each other and hug.  That never gets old.

Our littlest baby girl should arrive in just over 3 months and we are getting more excited all the time to meet her and get to know her.  I've pulled out a few boxes of burp cloths and lanolin and baby slings in anticipation.

Any season is great when we are together and this past summer was no exception.  Here are some of the many memories we shared:
